CLUB ACTIVITIES FOR THE MONTH OF JUNE
Little Innovators Club
Students were briefed about the process involved in innovation. Innovation starts with identifying a problem close to one’s heart and involve design thinking and find multiple ways to solve a problem. Students were asked to get into groups or work individually to first brainstorm and think of multiple solutions to a problem they have chosen to solve.
Few students took a round of School to identify a problem to work on, while few had discussions in the classroom to do the same.
Finally, after a brainstorming session, students identified an area they want to work and contribute, and made a rough planning with design thinking tools .
Gourmet Central Club
Making of Paneer Chilli and Bread Pizza
The students of the Gourmet Central Club assembled in IX A for attendance-about 35 students were present. They were briefed about Balanced Diet through a PowerPoint presentation – importance of balanced diet, the basic food groups. Students were asked to prepare a list of the food they ate the earlier day and divide it into the different food groups which they learnt.
The entire recipe of making Paneer Chilli and Bread Pizza was shared to the students indetail. Students were asked to make brief notes of the same. Later printouts of the recipe were shared with them. Students were seated in the canteen area to cut and dice / cube the onions, green / red / yellow capsicums, and also the paneer. Learning how to use the knife correctly for the first time, students enjoyed peeling the onions and deseeding the capsicums. They
mixed the slurry needed for the paneer chilli and learnt how to fry the paneer cubes. While one batch of students applied butter and sauce to the bread, the other lot mixed the toppings of the bread pizza while the teachers baked the bread in the saucepan.
RHYTHMIC MOVES
After the morning assembly, students gathered in the allotted room. The attendance was taken. They were then segregated into 5 groups. Each group comprised of students from different classes. The teachers took charge of
different groups. The fee was collected from the students and a record of the same was maintained.The children were all set to take their first session under the guidance of Mr Sunil Shewadkar, our ‘Rhythm and Dance’ teacher. He
conducted a warmup activity for the students and teachers. Post this, the enthusiastic students and their teachers were taught different dance steps. Initially, there was some hesitation among few students as well as teachers but
by the end of the session the whole crowd grooved to the music and shook a leg with confidence. The session ended with a cool down routine. The anticipation and excitement seen, when the plan for our following sessions was announced, was noteworthy.Mr Sunil Shewadkar not only set the mood for the remaining club activities but also made us realise that anybody can dance.
Heritage Club
The students of the Heritage Club assembled in class VIII D for attendance-38 students were present. They were briefed about the methods of tie and dye- the various folds, the ways of tying and dyeing. Students were asked to damp the cloth given to them, then choose a fold of their choice and tie it .
The teachers then assisted the students in colouring portions of the cloth, dipping the entire cloth in the same colour and also painting the folds using acrylic paints.
Once the students set their designs to dry, they then began printing their hand kerchief, tote bags, duppatas etc using various options of wooden blocks as per designs of their choice.
The students learnt how these creative art forms help enhance their concentration, develop their fine motor skills and eye hand coordination. This also helped peer learning and teamwork.
Little chefs
We ,students represented ourselves as little chefs and created delectable appetisers with a tropical mocktail. The fact that the snack was a combo of being healthy and scrumptious made it an ideal snack. Besides cooking,there
was learning, safety and cleanliness.
Veggiespro ferrago and Ginger Lemon Mojito were the two recipes that were created by us. A blend of appealing colours made it a vibrant visual to the eyes.
Onion, tomatoes, cucumber were chopped minutely and were added to the healthy mix of pulses. The ingredients were then nourished with salt, spices and garnishing. The ingredients of the salad started to bond as they were combined with a spatula.Lemon ginger mojito was a blend of water, lemon, ginger, sugar/honey and a pinch of salt. The tropical drink was a perfect mending with a blend of sour, sweet and salty. The two creations went well together and encouraged our contentment to rise.
Young Entrepreneurs’ Club
In the first session, Club-in-charge Ms. Jayshri Verma introduced the concept of Entrepreneurship to all the students. She also explained the students the objective, mission and functions of the club by using a power point
presentation.
Following short stories of successful entrepreneurs were shown to the students:-
- Dhirubhai Ambani – highlighting his life, achievements and his struggle to become a successful entrepreneur.
- Varun Agarwal- from failing in engineering to co-founding a million-dollar company.
- Jack Ma- his biography and starting of Alibaba.com
- Bhavish Agrawal- inspiring story of the brain behind OLA Cab.
A treasure hunt was conducted by the club members to engage the students
effectively.
In the second session, Mr. Shravan Kaduskar, a guest speaker who has his own
business engaged the student with various team building activities. The students
were guided about effective communication skills needed to be a successful
entrepreneur.
ROBOTICS CLUB
Level 1: LED Torch and Birthday Card
– Students made a robotic birthday card.
– Students learnt the making of a wireless circuit.
– They learnt the use of conducting materials in times of emergency.
– Students understood the concept of circuit, PCB, LED(structure, use and advantages), DC, AC,Conductors etc.
Level 2: Light sensor card and Mini Grinder.
– Students learnt to make simple circuit.
– Students learnt the working of LDR sensor.
– They learnt the use of switch.
– Students understood the concept of circuit, DC Motor, Conductors etc.
Level 3: Touch sensor circuit card.
– Students learnt to build series and parallel circuits using breadboard.
Students made a working model of touch sensor circuit card.
– They learnt about circuits and use of transistor as amplifier.
– They learnt the use of touch switches in everyday life.
Students of all 3 levels were very excited to perform these hands on Robotic activities and
enjoyed them very much.
Handicraft Club
For Handicraft club, the activity begun with block printing where students created their own colorful designs using wooden blocks, ink and paint. At the same time, Heritage Club students learnt the tie and dye techniques. Post break time, the material for the activities was exchanged between the clubs. First a video was shown to the students of Handicraft club to make them familiar with the art of Tie and Dye. Then they tried their hands on binding, folding, or simply scrunching fabric before dying it with natural colors. They were taught 10 techniques of making different patterns with tie and dye and the results were simply stunning!!!All the students and teachers were excited to see the outcome. They were given one more piece of cloth to use their creativity and again they came up with wonderful
swirls and patterns of colors. Overall, it was a great learning experience for the students which they thoroughly enjoyed.
REEL CREATORS CLUB
The student assembled in the computer lab and the attendance was taken by the teacher. The students were shown a short film and then were introduced to our Guest Speaker Mr. Nitin Makasare from the Vikhe Patil Foundation.
Mr. Makasare explained to the students that Every movie you’ve ever seen first started with an idea in someone’s brain. Although things change as a project goes on, the story you come up with in the beginning will serve as the foundation on which everything else will be built. He told the student to start thinking about the kind of story that they want their film to tell and all the important story elements involved: plot, characters, conflict, etc. He also
elaborated the role of each of the team members of the film making unit and how it is important to work in collaboration.
In the second part we had a Guest Speaker Mr. Omkar Potdar who has produced short films and he explained the various features of a camera, the various aspects of screenplay. He also showed a self-made short-film and demonstrated to the students the different angles of the video shots taken in the process of shooting.
The students were very excited and were looking forward to creating their own films and they also had several ideas about what they wanted to do.
