As a part of the ongoing celebrations for the 75th Anniversary of Indian Independence or Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, students of class VI,VII ,VIII, V P M S, Pune had a month -end activity ‘Creating our National Flag using pulses or My Eco Code’, ‘Wealth out of Waste Tricolour Eco friendly Ikebana
The purpose of this activity was to motivate students to reflect on the ecological imbalance created by mankind and take appropriate individual action to prevent further damage. These activities helped to inculcate the values of nationalism, belongingness and responsibility towards our beloved country.
The children participated enthusiastically in the activity and explored their creative side by expressing their own ECO CODE through drawings, slogans, sketches and poems. They used various cereals and pulses to create our tricolour which instilled a message of consuming locally grown food,using our resources judiciously and curtail national wastage. The children Rajvicame up with their own practical solutions to safeguard and nurture their immediate environment to ultimately help the progress of our nation.
Ikebana activity revolved around arousing aesthetic outlook and learning the art of Ikebana where beautiful flowers leaves and twigs are arranged to create something even more beautiful. They also learnt to convert used and unwanted materials for decorations purpose instead of plucking fresh flowers. This creation would last longer and can be reused several times. Students thoroughly Jenjoyed the activity and presented a plethora of amazing Ikebana creations
The objectives of this activity were to develop the spirit of nationalism with aesthetic appreciation. To nurture their skills of creative thinking using waste materials in a creative form and develop a love for the environment by encouraging students to use waste material to make innovative upcycled objects of use.
