Report of Workshop on Innovative pedagogies in Science and Mathematics
CBSE in collaboration with IISER, iRISE( Inspiring India in Research, Innovation, and STEM Education), Pune organized a 2 day Cascade Workshop on 16 th &17 th December 2022 at Vikhe Patil Memorial School, Pune.
Innovation Champions Ms. Amita Velhal ( Sri Sri Ravishankar school, Bhugaon, Pune) , Leena Jhingon (VPMS Pune) and Ms. Nidhi Jain (VPMS Pune) successfully conducted sessions for 71 Science and Math Teachers in the Pune district.
Shivani Agre from iRISE explained about the 4P’s – Purpose, Process, People and Product of the teaching learning . She also threw light on the 7i innovation model.
Ms. Amita Velhal conducted sessions on Chemistry around Us, Trigonometry and Respiratory system.
Ms. Nidhi Jain explained about Ecosystem, Mixtures and separation and Sound.
Ms. Leena Jhingon conducted sessions on Trigonometry, Electronics and Mathematical connections.
Several strategies were introduced like storytelling, role plays, questioning, simulations, clearing misconceptions, and interdisciplinary approach throughout the sessions.
A special session on DST Manak-Inspire awards was conducted by Mousmi from IISER. The sessions were engaging and received positive feedback from the participants.
Principal of City Pride school shared her experience in encouraging students of her school to get nominated for the Manak award.
The workshop aimed at orienting teachers on Innovation and STEM Pedagogical Content Knowledge. The sessions focused on the Hands-on,
Minds-on approach along with inquiry-based learning. Teachers will be receiving Cascade Kits comprising various activities which can be incorporated into classroom teaching.
After listening to the resource persons and performing the activities, all participants were motivated to adopt the 7i innovation model to build and maintain a culture of innovation.
