The Eco Club activities of the current academic year have been designed to foster a sense of responsibility, create a greener mindset, and empower the young green enthusiasts to become environmental stewards in their daily lives there by contributing to the collective effort of building a sustainable future for our planet.
Accordingly, in the first session of the maiden activity (24 th June 2023), the small group of Eco warriors took part in a green themed talent show as they displayed their green attitude through self-composed poems, riddles, drawings, presentations, and talks.
The later half of the session witnessed an outdoor activity consisting of an Eco Walk in the Vanudyan Bhamburda, a biodiversity park located at the foothills of the Vetal Tekdi. The Green walk aimed to delve into the mesmerizing beauty of the lush, diverse forest which is home to a remarkable array of flora and fauna. The forest boasts a rich ecosystem characterized by more than fourteen thousand towering trees and abundant wildlife making it a significant natural treasure.
During the eco walk, the club members were treated to an immersive experience amidst the forest’s biodiversity. The trail led us through a diverse range of plant species as the guide enlightened us about the medicinal properties of plants and their cultural significance.
Additionally, we were fortunate to spot a few species of animals and birds.
The eco walk shed light on the conservation initiatives undertaken to protect and preserve the precious ecosystem, aiding in the revival of the forest’s biodiversity.
The short spells of rain added a special element towards making the eco walk, a captivating opportunity to become aware, support and promote sustainable practices to ensure the preservation of the Bhamburda forest in the future.
