Club report for Handicraft Club – 31 st August 2024.
Name of the activity- In-house Activity-Lippan art form
Venue- Senior Block Art room.
As goes the saying ‘Creativity is inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes, and having fun.’
In a bid to nurture the attitude of creativity, the Handicraft members took part in yet another engrossing and enriching activity namely ‘Lippan artwork’, a traditional fine art of the deserts of Rajasthan and Gujarat regions.
The students were asked to bring a basic material like fevicol, Colour palette, acrylic paints and brushes. The session began with Ms. Isha Inamdar, the resource person, demonstrating the process of mixing the mould of resin clay and a hardener to make a fine dough, rolling the moulded mixture into thin delicate elongated strips.
A MDF boards with beautiful design was given to the members for them paste the elongated strips of the moulded clay on the designs, which were then coated with a white gesso paint. On drying the designs were painted in vibrant hues along with circular mirrors that were struck giving the artwork an astonishing, glittering effect, an artistic end to the work.
All the students thoroughly enjoyed this activity and worked with great enthusiasm. It was a joyful experience for the teachers to see their student’s artwork.
