The students of Upper Primary Section of VPMS, Pune painted the atmosphere in hues of optimism as they performed to ‘Hope… Light amidst darkness’ for their Annual Cultural festival. The event, held on Saturday, 26 th October 2024 in the school amphitheatre saw the
guests thronging in shades and hues of yellow as a metaphor for hope. Sister Lucy Kurien, a social worker and the founder of Maher, a community and interfaith organization for abused and destitute women and children, presided as the chief guest for the event.

The Upper Primary Section of VPMS, Pune, transformed its amphitheatre into a vibrant showcase of talent, creativity, and unity during the much-anticipated Annual Cultural Festival. The theme of this year’s event, "Hope… Light Amidst Darkness," resonated deeply
with the audience, reflecting the resilience and optimism of the students. With an impressive participation of around 300 students, the festival featured a captivating blend of drama, dance, and choir performances that left a lasting impression on all attendees.

As guests arrived, they were greeted by an atmosphere bursting with enthusiasm and warmth. Families, friends, and faculty members filled the seats, eager to witness the talents of the young performers. The Cultural festival commenced after the plantation of a sapling at the
hands of the chief guest. The event began with the welcome and felicitation of the chief guest and the other dignitaries. The drama was interspersed with vibrant dance performances that celebrated diversity and creativity. Each dance segment was meticulously choreographed, showcasing the students’ dedication and hard work in rehearsals leading up to the festival. The choir, a harmonious blend of voices, performed a number that echoed the theme of hope. Their uplifting melodies reverberated throughout the amphitheatre, moving many in the audience to reflect on the importance of hope and resilience in challenging times.

The chief guest, Sister Lucy through her speech inspired the students with her words of encouragement. In her address, she emphasized the significance of hope as a driving force in overcoming adversity and the vital role of education in shaping a better future. Her presence
added an extra layer of significance to the event, highlighting the values that VPMS strives to instil in its students. The event ended with a digital vote of thanks, wherein appreciation and gratitude were offered to everyone who had been instrumental in shaping the program.
The Annual Cultural Festival at VPMS was not just a display of artistic talent but also a celebration of community spirit and shared values. Through their performances, the students conveyed messages of hope, justice, and equality, leaving the audience inspired and uplifted.
The event successfully brought together families and the school community, reinforcing the belief that through collaboration and creativity, even the darkest times can be illuminated by the light of hope.

As the curtains fell on this remarkable evening through the digital vote of thanks, it was evident that the seeds of optimism and resilience sown by the students would continue to flourish, guiding them in their future endeavours. The festival was a resounding success, and
the anticipation for next year’s event has already begun to grow.
