The impact of climate change (CC) is no longer debated. On the contrary, they are visible and are manifesting in more than one forms – human health, food, and the economy becoming the biggest crisis for life on earth. Every second we wait, the damage Grows!
We need to act before it is too late towards a healthier planet, a sustainable future and a better world for generations to come.
Objectives:
· Educating the young about the causes and consequences of Climate Change
· Developing a culture of caring for the environment, surroundings and living beings.
· Promote children to become the ‘Agents of Change’
The Climate Warrior Prize Distribution Ceremony was held on the 18 th of February 2025 at Kale Hall, Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, Pune. The purpose of this ceremony was to recognize and applaud the Champions of Change i.e. the students and faculty of various schools in Pune who have demonstrated exemplary efforts through their overall performances in combating climate change.
The students were continuously motivated from ‘Awareness to action’ and from ‘Action to transformation’ through various recommended activities. The schools were also encouraged and acknowledged for conducting various other innovative and creative activities of their choice which would contribute towards awareness of Climate Change.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of various eminent personalities like Mrs. Vandana Chavan, Member of Parliament and project lead mentor, Mrs. Malati Kalmadi, educationalist, Dr. Gurudas Nulkar, Mrs.Vrishali Dabholkar and Divya Jachak Chavan project coordinators and the special guest was Mr Hanumanth Kendre the revolutionary and visionary waterman of Nagderwadi, Nanded Maharashtra. The Climate Warrior Prize comprised several categories, recognizing outstanding contributions across different domains such as pollution prevention, eco gift making, climate change, air quality, biodiversity, The Big Green Fest, waste management etc…
VPMS Pune, continued to make its presence felt this year too by bagging various prizes and for their extraordinary work in almost every category like Poster Making, Picture Book making and spreading awareness through it, best stall at the Green Fest, Mission City Chakra impact, Ek Kadam Aage initiatives and to top them all the ‘Best school, Sustainability Champion Award’ for its relentless efforts and
contribution. Out of 83 schools that were invited for the ceremony, only 11 were honored with this title. VPMS Pune received a special detailed appreciation by the project coordinator Mrs. Divya Jachak Chavan, for punctuality, efforts, interest, keenness to perform and contribute, submissions, outputs, ‘Ek kadam Aage’ activities, participation at all events, timely reporting, overall performance etc. The teacher representing VPMS Pune at PCW Season:3, Ms. Mrinalini Rao also received the ‘Outstanding Lead Teacher’ award by the guests.
The Climate Warrior Prize Distribution Ceremony served as a platform to encourage young minds to have a selfless desire to create change, have a vision, set a goal, align thoughts and actions towards achieving that goal and emerge as successful achievers. The event was a grand success with ample memories to remember and cherish.
