Report on “Udaan” – The Annual Cultural Programme of the Upper Primary Section

“Give your dreams the wings of freedom — and let them soar beyond limits.” With hearts brimming with excitement and eyes alight with anticipation, the amphitheatre of Vikhe Patil Memorial School came alive on the evening of Tuesday, 14th October 2025, as the Upper Primary Section presented its much- awaited Annual Cultural Programme — Udaan. The theme, “Udaan”,
symbolized the spirit of young women— a journey of courage, resilience, and hope. It reflected the school’s belief that every child has the power to rise above obstacles and soar high despite challenges.
The programme was graced by the presence of Ms. Devika Nadig, an eminent educationist. Her distinguished work in the field of education and her passion for nurturing young minds made her presence truly inspiring. The event was also graced by Dr Ashok Vikhe Patil, Chairman- Dr Vikhe Patil Foundation, Dr Manoj Narwade-Trustee & Secretary, and Mrs Nandini Vikhe Patil-Joint Secretary, Dr Vikhe Patil Foundation & Director, School’s Programme. The programme started with the school anthem following which the Chief Guest, Ms
Devika Nadig planted a sapling; a symbolic gesture of growth and renewal.
Post the sapling plantation and felicitation of the dignitaries, the Annual Cultural Programme unfolded. The amphitheatre was a sight to behold — draped in warm hues of desert gold and exuberant zharokas, recreating the vibrant landscape of Rajasthan, the setting for this year’s cultural showcase. Parents, too, joined in the festive spirit, dressed in traditional Rajasthani attire
— women in colourful odhnis and men in kurtas — adding authenticity and charm to the evening.
The highlight of the evening was the theatrical presentation, an original drama woven around the central theme of women empowerment. Set against the backdrop of a traditional Rajasthani village, the play traced the inspiring journey of a young girl who dared to dream beyond societal constraints.
Through powerful dialogue and heartfelt acting, the students conveyed a strong message — that true empowerment begins with belief in oneself. The audience responded with a thunderous applause, touched by the sincerity and conviction of the young performers. The seamless coordination of music, dance, drama, choir and narration reflected the tireless efforts of teachers and students alike. Every performance was a testament to creativity, teamwork, and dedication — the very essence of Udaan.
In her address, Ms. Devika Nadig praised the students for their confidence and creativity. She lauded the school for nurturing not just academic excellence but also values and life skills through such platforms. Her words, filled with warmth and wisdom, inspired everyone present to continue striving for higher goals.
The evening concluded on a note of pride and reflection as the Principal expressed heartfelt gratitude to the staff, parents, and students for making Udaan a soaring success. As the lights dimmed and applause echoed through the amphitheatre, one message lingered — every child, given wings of confidence and guided by values, can truly take flight and soar beyond the horizon.
“Udaan is not just about flying high; it’s about finding strength in your wings, even when the wind is against you.”
