The activity titled ‘Bottle Art / Bottle Painting’ OR ‘Greeting Cards with Dried Leaves and Flowers’ was conducted with the aim of nurturing students’ creativity while promoting the values of sustainability, recycling, and appreciation for nature. Students were given the choice to engage in either decorative bottle art or nature-inspired greeting card making, depending on their interest. This activity not only enhanced artistic skills but also encouraged responsible use of resources and environmental awareness.
The Bottle Art / Greeting Card Making Activity, titled ‘A Symphony of Creativity and Sustainability’, was conducted to encourage students to express creativity while promoting environmental awareness through the reuse of materials. Students chose either to decorate used plastic or fibre bottles through painting and embellishments, or to design greeting cards using dried leaves and flowers. They collected and prepared their materials at home, while the decorative work was completed in school. Those who selected bottle art cleaned and painted their bottles using acrylic colours, created designs based on themes such as nature, abstract patterns, or inspirational quotes, and added optional decorations like ribbons or stickers.
Students who made greeting cards arranged dried natural materials on coloured chart paper, carefully glued them in place, and enhanced their cards with drawings, messages, or additional decorative elements suited to occasions like birthdays, festivals, or thank-you notes. The activity helped students develop artistic skills, fine motor coordination, creative thinking, and aesthetic appreciation, while also reinforcing the importance of recycling, sustainability, and connecting with nature. Overall, the activity was highly engaging, allowing students to express individuality, experiment with new techniques, and produce meaningful, visually appealing artwork. Students seemed to be highly motivated and excited to create something on their own. It was a learning curve with an element of fun in it.
