More Than Inclusion—A Celebration of Collaboration
Art to Connect 3.0 headed by Dr.Nirmala Krishnan is a one-of-a-kind artistic movement that promotes empathy and inclusion through collaborative art. In this initiative, children from regular schools partner with specially-abled peers (called buddies) to co-create and perform together in categories such as music, dance, singing, and painting. This program is not just a competition—it’s a journey that nurtures compassion, creativity, and friendship through the universal language of art.
‘Art to Connect’ is an educational approach that uses artistic expression—such as music, dance, visual art, and storytelling—as a bridge to deeper learning. It encourages students to connect ideas, emotions, and values through creative activities. Instead of treating art as a separate subject, this concept uses art as a tool for communication, collaboration, and understanding. This journey didn’t highlight differences; it highlighted strengths for our students. The Art to Connect Competition was conceived with the aim of providing students a creative platform to express their thoughts, emotions, and perspectives through Art, Music and Dance. This initiative sought to nurture artistic talent while encouraging participants to reflect on themes that inspire connection—within themselves, with others, and with the world around them. The competition offered students an opportunity to explore diverse mediums and techniques, fostering imagination, creativity, and personal expression. Through this event, we aimed not only to celebrate artistic skills, but also to promote confidence, communication, and a deeper appreciation for the role of art in building meaningful connections.
