Adolescent education is crucial for guiding young people through a formative stage in their lives. Teachers play a pivotal role in addressing the academic, emotional and social needs of adolescents. Keeping this aspect in mind, to enhance their effectiveness, a comprehensive training / workshop for two days was conducted for the Secondary and Senior secondary teachers in collaboration with the Regional Office, CBSE Pune. The training was held on 14 th and 15 th of September. As many as 58 teachers from different sections attended this
workshop. The resource people for this workshop were Ms. Yasmin Kaur Bains and Ms. Ritika Kalra who shared their valuable insights and wisdom with the participants present for the training.

The objective of the training was to enhance teachers’ understanding of adolescent development, their psychological needs and challenges and concerns faced by adolescents. Furthermore, to equip teachers with practical and classroom implementable strategies and to create a supportive environment in the classroom. The training program also aimed to address current issues affecting adolescents, such as mental health and social media obsession, drug abuse and addiction, body image, bullying and its adverse effects and much more.

On day one, all the participants were divided into different groups and the main focus of the trainers was on the two-way interaction which helped the resource persons understand the problems encountered by the teachers in their classroom.

Teachers were motivated to examine the given case study and discuss in their groups. They were encouraged to prepare short role plays for enactment. The resource people made these sessions lively and relatable by quoting relevant examples and anecdotes from their everyday life.

On day two, the primary focus was on difference between sex and gender, The session was also equally interactive and informative. The take away from both these sessions was to develop strategies for building a positive classroom culture. Moreover, the techniques for inclusive teaching and addressing diverse needs was another learning from this workshop. Two different handouts with worksheets and information on myriad topics were provided by the trainers. On a whole, the training program on adolescent education has significantly
contributed in enhancing teachers' ability to support and educate adolescents effectively. By focusing on both theoretical knowledge and practical strategies, the program has equipped teachers with the skills necessary to create a positive learning environment and address the diverse needs of adolescents. “I am very happy to have been a part of this workshop on both days.
