The CBSE capacity building workshop on Health and Wellness in Schools aimed to sensitise and train educators about the importance of Health and Wellness for students, providing them with strategies to promote physical and mental well-being in the school. It was a two-day workshop, and 11 modules on maintaining wellness were covered.
The session began with a reflection on the difference between teaching and learning during the pre-COVID and post-COVID times.
The following modules were covered during the workshop with a variety of interesting activities, roleplays and interactive discussions.

2. Emotional Wellbeing & Mental Health
3. Interpersonal Relationships
4. Values And Responsible Citizenship
5. Gender Equality
6. Nutrition, Health and Sanitation
7. Prevention and Management of Substance Abuse
8. Promotion of a Healthy lifestyle
9. Reproductive Health & HIV prevention
10. Safety and Security against Violence and Injuries
11. Promotion of safe use of the Internet and Social Media behaviour
The speakers threw light upon a few important concepts, namely OLA, HC2ML, 7Cs, 5Fs and VUCA. Some other topics like Conflict Resolution, Healthy life choices within our reach, Decision making wheel, SWOT analysis, Skills to counter stigmas and stereotypes during Adolescence, Real life Value dilemas, etc, were elaborated using case studies and videos.
This workshop helped strengthen schools’ role in promoting holistic student development. The sessions focused on creating a safe, inclusive and health- promoting environment within the school ecosystem.
Participants gained insights into age-appropriate interventions, dealing with a couple of sensitive issues and the role of teachers and counsellors in fostering a culture of care and well-being. Participants were declared to be the Health and Wellness ambassadors for the school, and together they affirmed a Health and Wellness pledge at the end of the session. The workshop left participants feeling
empowered, giving them a valuable experience so as to create a supportive environment that fosters the overall development of students.
