 The students of Std. 8 to 10 had a captivating cooking activity that brought together the joy of learning and the art of cooking, leaving students enriched with knowledge and delightful memories.” The activity was held on Saturday, 26th July 2025 under the expert guidance of our esteemed resource persons, Mr. Ayush Bhosale and Mr. Aryan Kalyani, former students of Vikhe Patil Memorial School.

This activity was conducted not only to introduce students to the finesse of international cuisine but also to awaken their culinary curiosity and inspire their senses.

This engaging session featured the preparation of two iconic dishes from Italian cuisine—Mushroom Sauce Cheese-Stuffed Ravioli and the world-renowned dessert, Tiramisu. The much-awaited cooking activity commenced with an engaging and informative PowerPoint presentation. The presentation, provided an overview of Italy’s rich culinary traditions and a visual walkthrough of the recipes.

A team of 27 young chefs enthusiastically came together to prepare the two delicious dishes with great teamwork and excitement.

 

Activity Details:

  1. Mushroom sauce cheese stuffed ravioli

The hands-on session with the preparation of Cheese-Stuffed Ravioli in Mushroom Sauce. Students keenly observed as he guided them through the process of preparing fresh pasta dough—kneading it to the right consistency and letting it rest. The stuffing was a luscious blend of cheese, and chilli flakes, carefully encased in thin pasta sheets shaped into ravioli.

Once the ravioli were gently boiled to perfection, he demonstrated the preparation of a rich and aromatic mushroom sauce—sautéing finely chopped onion, garlic, mushrooms in olive oil and adding cream, milk, cheese, oregano, chilli flakes and salt to create a velvety texture. The cooked ravioli was then generously coated in the sauce and plated beautifully.

 

  1. Tiramisu:

Following the savoury indulgence came the much-anticipated sweet finale—Tiramisu, a classic Italian dessert known for its rich layers and melt-in-the-mouth feel. He explained the steps of making the dessert right from soaking delicate ladyfinger biscuits in a solution of coffee powder gently dissolved in water, preparation of  smooth mascarpone cream, and layering them with precision. The final dusting of cocoa powder completed the dish.

The cooking activity was a perfect blend of education, and flavour, leaving everyone with a newfound appreciation for Italian cuisine and a memorable culinary experience.
