Ira Basale, a student of Class IX VPMSPune has been selected for the “Junior Mentorship Program” and “1000 Girls,1000 Futures” at the New York Academy of Sciences (NYAS). Her area of interest for the program is Astrophysics and the use of technology in researching different prospects of the universe. Through this program, she hopes to network with female STEM
experts from all around the world, receive mentorship on an academic path, and learn the necessary skills such as leadership, critical thinking, and communication.
The aim of the Junior Academy is to "introduce exceptional students to an online community where they gain access to best-in-class STEM resources and work together to solve real-world problems". STEM professionals mentor student
teams on innovation challenges sponsored by industry-leading companies via Launchpad and 21st-century skills development. While the 1000 Girls, 1000 Futures connects STEM-focused high school girls to dynamic, motivated female mentors during a year-long virtual science education program.
