Star Gazing Trip to Heritage Resort, Velhe

On 23rd November 2024, an exciting star-gazing trip to the Heritage Resort in Velhe was organized by the Trekfit Adventure Group. This trip offered a unique opportunity for participants to explore the wonders of the night sky and deepen their understanding of astronomy. A group comprising 63 students and 9 teachers departed from the school at approximately 2:30 PM. The highlight of the event was the participation of the esteemed team from Aeronautics and Space Exploration—Ms. Venu Jangam, Mr. Omkar Kanekar, and Mr. Ashish Parmar—who brought their high-powered telescopes to make the experience unforgettable.
The evening commenced with Ms. Venu Jangam delivering an engaging and informative introduction to various planets and celestial bodies. Her session was filled with fascinating facts, which enriched the students understanding of the universe. The team guided the participants
throughout the evening, blending education with an awe-inspiring journey across the cosmos.
One of the evenings most captivating moments was observing Venus, Saturn and its iconic rings, along with its moons. Students were particularly thrilled to view Alberio, a striking binary star system with twin-colored stars. The telescope was later adjusted to focus on the Moon and Mars, allowing an intimate glimpse of the lunar craters and Mars reddish hue. The vivid clarity of these telescopic images left everyone spellbound.
Adding to the excitement, the group spotted a moving satellite with the naked eye, a rare and exhilarating sight that enthralled everyone present. The night sky seemed to come alive, immersing the students in an unforgettable experience.
The following morning, after a mesmerizing night under the stars, the group enjoyed a hearty breakfast at the resort before preparing for their return journey. The group departed at around 8:30 AM, carrying with them a newfound sense of wonder and admiration for the cosmos. This star-gazing trip was a profound and memorable experience for the students. They not only gained valuable knowledge about space and astronomy but also created memories to cherish for years to come. The event perfectly combined education with adventure, leaving participants inspired and eager to explore more about the universe.
The Trekfit Adventure Group, in collaboration with the Aeronautics and Space Exploration team, provided a truly extraordinary experience that will resonate with the students for a long time.
