REPORT ON INNOVATION DESIGN SESSION STD VI
The Ministry of Education (MoE), Govt. of India has established ‘MoE’s Innovation Cell(MIC)’ to systematically foster the culture of Innovation amongst all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). Design Thinking and Innovation Skill Module is an important programme
initiated by the MIC. This programme aims to equip students with tools and skills to address problems using Design Thinking Process. To train teachers in implementation of this skill module, several workshops were organized by MoE’s Innovation Cell and CBSE at multiple
locations all across India.
The MIC plans to establish a School Innovation Council in every school that runs under the MoE and CBSE. The Programme aims at fostering the culture of Innovation, Ideation, Creativity, Design Thinking and Entrepreneurship in schools.
Keeping in view, the importance of this programme, an introductory session was conducted for the students of Class 6 in the AV Room. Ms. Anjali Naik, Coordinator, Senior Secondary commenced the session by greeting and briefing the children about Design Thinking and
Innovation followed by a video.
The video showcased the interview of a young and dynamic entrepreneur Mr.Yashraj Bhardwaj, Co-founder, Petonic Infotech, Activist, UK Barkeley. The interview titled ‘Leadership Talk (Journey of a successful Young Entrepreneur from School days)’ is created by the Ministry of
Education’s Innovation Cell for School Innovation Council.
A few laurels in his kitty- Yashraj Bhardwaj and his brother Yuvraj Bhardwaj are researchers, ideators and entrepreneurs 36 Research Projects and 15 patent applications that they have filed in a team. They are also the recipients of Karmaveer Chakra Award 2016 and have also been named amongst top 10 young entrepreneurs of 2016 across the globe by by success magazine. They were also proud nominee of Padma Shri 2018, one of the highest civilian awards in India. Also, winner of many international and national awards and have also been into Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia List 2018. Yashraj and Yuvraj reside in Delhi, Dubai and Hong Kong and are very closely connected with the latest in technology and innovation around the world, with very close association with innovation powerhouses like Silicon Valley giants, TED, Venture Firms and Technology Clusters around the world. The main business is related to Problem Solving. They have been working a lot with various state, market and societies and basically have been doing deep down research and finding patents-based solutions for such problems. Right now, around 150 researchers are associated with the companies and nearly all of them are without degrees. They are headquartered in Delhi and Dubai, and have offices in Hong Kong, etc. Yashraj is also selected as Garwood Fellow at UC Berkeley. He is a Visiting scholar there and working on concept of ‘Open Innovation’. One of interesting fact is that he is the youngest person ever for
this fellowship wherein nobody less than ‘PhD’ is ever selected.
Yashraj reiterated the importance of family values and respect and obedience towards parents, discipline and hard work in achieving success. From being a cricketer, he switched to computing, then writing and finally emerged as a successful entrepreneur. His quest to find solutions to problems and take up challenges took him to the place he is today. His inspiring journey will motivate young minds and the old alike for sure.
