REPORT

“Speak clearly if you speak at all; carve every word before you let it fall” – Oliver Wendell Holmes.

A comprehensive public speaking workshop was successfully held for the students of Grades 9 and 11 on 14 November 2025 in the Seminar Hall. The speakers for the day were Ishan Shimpukade, a former student of the school, and Devarshi Bhat, his colleague. Shravani Kelkar of class 9 A introduced the guest speakers.

The workshop aimed to equip students with essential communication and leadership skills, help them overcome stage fright, and enhance their overall confidence. The workshop followed a structured agenda. The key points discussed were:

  • Introduction to Public Speaking:A session covering the fundamentals, common fears, and the importance of audience awareness.
  • Voice Modulation & Body Language:Information on the importance of using an effective tone, pitch, volume, and purposeful gestures while communicating with people or with an audience.
  • Speech Structure & Content Preparation:Guidance on organising a speech with a compelling introduction, main points supported by evidence, and a strong conclusion.
  • CSPBM Framework: This refers to the Current Success Problem Breakthrough Message, along with using the art of storytelling.
  • Reading the Room: Tips on being able to read and categorise the people we meet and to be able to hold meaningful conversations with them, depending on their colour type. The colours which people fall under are Red (highly ambitious), Blue (logical thinkers), Green (quiet and calm), and Yellow (extroverts).

The interactive session on Public Speaking was an enriching experience that empowered the students of Grades 9 and 11 with a vital life skill. By focusing on practical skills and confidence-building in a supportive setting, the initiative successfully laid a strong foundation for the students’ personal and professional development.

Sessions like these aim to transform fear into confidence, hesitation into influence, and equip students and teachers with a lifelong asset that helps them thrive in various personal and professional situations.

Mahin Malwadkar of class 11 B proposed the Vote of Thanks, and the Coordinator of the Sr. Secondary Section gave the speakers a token of appreciation.
