Report of Field Visit to Art Hydroponic Farm

A group of 120 students from Std VII along with five teachers from Vikhe Patil Memorial School, Pune got the opportunity to visit Hy Greens, Art Hydroponic Farm at Katraj, Pune.

The field visit aimed at understanding the modern techniques of farming which is not only sustainable but also how different it is in comparison to traditional farming.

Hydroponic farming is the art of growing plants and cultivating them without soil, and learning about vertical farming in limited spaces in order to curb the impact of increasing population and urbanisation.

The students were taken around to observe how different plants, herbs and salades are grown.

The concept of growing healthy plants without pesticides was explained. Mr. Raghunandan Deshpande also threw light on the important components of growing plants.

The students were also introduced about how it could be potential career opportunity.

Each student was given a salad box as a part of the field trip.

The interactive session ended with the resource person answering the curious questions from the students making it an informative and enriching one for all.
