“Awareness is Protection, and Empowered Children are Safer Children.”
Body Safety Awareness Sessions on “Good Touch – Bad Touch” were conducted by School Counsellor Ms. Sucheta Mithari for students from Nursery to Grade III during 17th February to 27th February. The sessions were thoughtfully designed to provide age-appropriate understanding of body safety, personal boundaries, and emotional awareness in a reassuring and child-friendly manner.
Students were guided to understand the concept of safe, unsafe, and accidental touch while recognizing their feelings as important safety signals. Through simple explanations and relatable examples, children learned that comfort and happiness indicate safety, whereas fear or discomfort signal the need to take action. The swimsuit rule was introduced to explain private body parts and reinforce respect for one’s own body and others’ boundaries. Practical red-flag and green-flag situations were discussed to enhance clarity and decision-making skills.
The 3-step Safety Rule — Say NO, Run Away, and Tell a Trusted Adult — was confidently practiced through interactive activities and affirmation exercises. Emphasis was placed on not keeping unsafe secrets and encouraging open communication with trusted adults at home and school. The sessions were conducted in a calm, supportive environment to ensure awareness was built without fear, fostering confidence and self-advocacy among students.
The enthusiastic participation and clear understanding demonstrated by the children reflect the effectiveness of early preventive education. This initiative strengthens the school’s commitment to nurturing a safe, secure, and emotionally supportive learning environment.
“When children understand their boundaries, they discover their strength — and a safe child today becomes a confident individual tomorrow.”
