Club report for Handicraft Club – 22 nd June 2024.

Name of the activity– In-house Activity-Kettle Painting.

As aptly said ‘Art is like meditation that enables one to find oneself as well as lose oneself at the same time.’

In a bid to nurture artistic talents and enhance craft skills in the students, the Handicraft club organized yet another engaging ‘DIY kettle painting’ activity which was conducted on 22 nd June 2024.

The 2 nd activity started with the resource person Ms. Nayana Dinkar, showing the club members different strokes using variant brushes along with she sharing some basic information to spark imagination in the learners like helping them visualize geometric designs, rangoli designs and landscape designs. The club members were asked to get paint brushes with a palate and were provided with an aluminium kettle and acrylic paints.

The first task began by the students giving the first coat of Gesso white paint as the base paint on the sides of the kettle after which a base colour coat of warm colours like yellow, shades of blue were applied. After having devised drafts of the designs, they had thought of, the budding artists were soon engrossed in an engaging activity designing beautiful designs like flowers, birds, trees and cherry blossoms to name a few on their kettles. Vibrant colour combinations were used to make their final work which turned out to be at par with that of an ace artist, a testimony to the students’ creativity and patience which was the highlight of the activity.

Overall, the activity was a fruitful, enjoyable as well as a gratifying one for everyone alike when the students as well as the teachers hand painted their kettles to craft beautiful home décor of their own.

This activity too like the 1 st one has developed interest and enthusiasm among the club members who remarked that they are anxiously waiting for the next activity already having decided that the activity next in line will be equally exciting as the first and the second activities conducted.
