Heritage Club Report
Activity: ‘In Pursuit of Lost Recipes’
“If God has intended us to follow recipes,
he wouldn’t have given us grandmothers !”
Keeping in line with the above quote, the students of VI, VII and VIII thoroughly enjoyed their club activity for January 2023, wherein the grandmothers of a few students shared some authentic recipes that they relished as young children.
The resource persons for the day were Mrs Samita Ghate; grandmother of Keva Ghate, Dr Prabha Grampurohit; grandmother of Kaveri Grampurohit and Mrs Priyamvada Gambhir; grandmother of Ira Gambhir.
Our gracious guests shared anecdotes from their childhood while preparing the delicious dishes for the children. The delicacies included Konkani Khandvi, Unde and Chutney from Karnataka and Dadpe Pohe from Maharashtra.
‘Tasty food brings eternal bliss…!’ This was true in the case of the activity for the day as it was truly blissful to watch the grandmothers in action. They poured in all their love while churning out the lip smacking recipes and also guided the students in the various stages of food preparation. The grandmothers made sure to share some handy kitchen tips as well.
All the students had a wonderful time and couldn’t wait to treat themselves with the yummy dishes!
