“Together let’s beat cancer. Let us join hands to conquer Cancer caused by HPV.”

-World Health Organization

The fight against cervical cancer is not just a medical battle, it is a societal commitment to the well-being of women and families across the nation. Through continued dedication and collaborative action, India can pave the way for a healthier future, free from the shadows cast by these silent and deadly diseases.

One crucial way to ensure the future health and well-being of our preteen and adolescent children is by safeguarding them against preventable diseases. Keeping this in mind, Dr. Poorva Lunavat, a dedicated parent, proposed running the HPV vaccination drive at Vikhe Patil Memorial School Pune. The School Principal, Ms. Mrinalini, took the initiative thereupon to conduct this drive in the school.

To spread information on HPV, Dr. Poorva Lunavat along with representatives from the Serum Institute conducted an awareness programme for all the parents of students of Stds. V to IX on 20th July 2024. Following that, two vaccination drives successfully conducted at the school campus. Beneficiaries who were due for the second and third dose of vaccine were administered the dose on 11th February 2025 from 9.30 am to 11 am. A total of 26 students registered for the vaccination through the VPMS portal and 3 On-Spot Registrations were done, one of the Registered student was absent. In total 28 students got vaccinated against Human Papilloma Virus. Post the vaccination observation they were asked to follow the doctor’s advice. The vaccination facility was optional for the parents, as the initiative was taken for social awareness and as a noble cause.

The Principal Ms. Mrinalini, on behalf of the management and staff, extended heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Poorva Lunavat for her initiative and for the success of the vaccination dr
