Report on Junior Sports Day 2024

The Annual Sports Day held at Vikhe Patil Memorial School on December 16th was a day filled with excitement, energy, and teamwork. Students, teachers, and parents came together to celebrate the spirit of sportsmanship and physical fitness. The event was graced by Mr
Arjun Kadhe, the Chief Guest for the day, an alumnus of the school and an international level tennis player who has carved a niche for himself on both the national and international tennis circuits.

The opening ceremony was marked by the torch runners – the State and National level players, followed by the traditional march-past by the students of standard IV and V who proudly represented their respective houses. The atmosphere was charged with enthusiasm as
each group showcased their unity and spirit. This was followed by magnificent displays by the students of Standard I to III like the Go Green drill encompassing physical exercises like yoga, taekwondo and gymnastics.

A major share of the events including track and field competitions, relay races, tug-of-war, and fun games were conducted prior to the Annual Sports Day. The prize winners for the same were awarded on 13 th December 2024 as a part of the Junior Pre-events. The track events held on the Annual Sports Day were particularly thrilling, with the 70 and 80m sprint for boys and girls and the 4x100m mixed relay drawing large crowds. The athletes demonstrated remarkable speed and precision and the event saw incredible performances by the students of the primary school. In the final tally, Ruby House emerged as the overall winner, with Emerald House securing second place and Sapphire and Coral Houses securing the third and fourth positions respectively. Special awards for General Championship for Standard V, Best Athlete for Standards IV & V and The Youngest Skater were awarded to the students. They were recognized for their exceptional dedication and effort.

The day concluded with a closing ceremony where the winners were presented with their medals and trophies. The Chief Guest in his speech commended everyone for their hard work, stressing the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and being part of a team.
Overall, the Sports Day was a great success, with students showing enthusiasm and dedication in both individual and team events. The event not only highlighted the importance of physical activity but also fostered a sense of community and unity among students, teachers, and parents.
