“Cooking is an expression of love, and the greatest joy comes from cooking for others.”
What you feel like eating at any given moment is what you should have!Cooking, a fundamental skill mastered by countless individuals across the globe, is an art and science in itself. It encompasses a wide array of techniques, ingredients, and flavors that come together to create culinary delights. In Little Chef, our main motto is to make each child self-sufficient when it comes to food. And if the recipe is to your liking, it becomes exciting and passionate.
On 25 th November, Little Chef made tantalizing and scrumptious street delights, which are relished right from a child to an adult. We started with artful Stuffed Dates, a decadent dessert made using basic ingredients such as dates, desiccated coconut, milk powder, and honey. It was one of the easiest as well as a complete nutritional delight.
After the short break, cooking became more interesting as ‘Papdi Chaat’ was on its way. Papdi Chaat is a popular street food from North India where crispy papdi (deep-fried flour crackers) are topped with a variety of toppings like chickpeas, boiled potato, yogurt, chutneys, cilantro, and more! These are highly addictive and are like a burst of flavor in every bite! Chaat- I can literally live on it! Students prepared it with great zeal. Each ingredient used was fresh and of high quality, and the presentation of the dishes was impeccable. The flavors were well-balanced and complemented each other perfectly. The dishes prepared by the students were a feast for both the eyes and the taste buds.
The entire show was captured by mouth watering ‘Pani puri’ or ‘Gol gappa.’ In English, it can be translated as "water balls" or “pani puri," crisp spheres filled with spiced water. It is a deep-fried breaded sphere filled with potato, onion, or chickpea. It is a common street food in India, spiced with tamarind chutney , chilli powder , or chaat masala . It’s such a fun snack to eat – it’s really more like an activity. There’s something silly and playful about stuffing a water-filled puri in your mouth.Students were impatient and devoured their own pani puris.
In conclusion, attending the Little Chef was an exciting experience that gave them hands-on learning experience. We could witness the talent and creativity in them. The entire cooking process was intense and captivating.
