“A recipe has no soul. You, as the cook must bring soul to the recipe.” -Thomos Keller
Cooking is the art of preparing food with or without the application of heat. It encompasses a vast range of methods, tools, and combinations of ingredients to make a delectable dish. Fireless cooking can be a fun and safe way for children to get involved in the kitchen. The “Little Chefs Club” students were explained the importance of eating healthy food and maintaining hygiene while cooking.
The objective of this session was to encourage students to be independent, self-sufficient and to follow directions.
Before commencing the cooking activity, the students were shown a video on different ways of napkin folding. The students were explained that napkin folding not only makes the table design appealing to the eyes but also highlights the event's theme. The students tried and
enjoyed making bat, envelope, spaceship, aloe plant, lily folds and many more.
Our budding chefs exhibited their culinary skills and doled out two nutritious dishes- Pin wheel rolls and Minty lemonade. The students washed the veggies before cutting them. Cabbage, onion, capsicum, carrot, and coriander were finely chopped and seasoned with salt,
rock salt, chilli flakes, and pepper powder. The ingredients were blended well after adding a spoonful of mayonnaise and tomato ketchup. The edges of the two bread slices were cut and the slices were later sealed using a little mayonnaise. The nourishing veggies mix garnished
with grated cheese was spread over the bread slices and gently rolled. Minty Lemonade was a magical combination of water, lemon, sugar, a sprig of mint, and a pinch of salt. The students enjoyed the lip-smacking pirouette rolls and the refreshing drink.
