The key goal of the session is to equip parents of VPMS, Pune with the techniques & practical tips for making the parenting process a joyful one. The parenting approach influences the young mind’s growing up experiences and all aspects of the child’s development.
The concept of joyful parenting and practical implementation of it was explained using examples that parents could easily relate to. Additionally, parents were involved in an activity to encourage constructive responses and active participation.
During the session, it was emphasized that happy parents can make parenthood interesting & enjoyable by ensuring that things are easy for themselves and their children, including following a fun-filled daily routine and practicing positive discipline. Providing children, a healthy, creative environment for growth, motivating, encouraging, and appreciating their efforts, setting realistic, achievable expectations, and being positive role models are essential.
Furthermore, parents gained practical tips on how to engage and make a positive influence on their child’s behavior along with what to avoid while interacting with young once. Participants were also exposed to the detrimental effects of overprotection, comparison and harsh words on their childs sense of self-worth and how it takes away the joy of the parenting journey. As part of enhancing our parents' parenting skills, concepts such as assertive and kind discipline, were discussed. Parents were reminded about parenting has to be centered around unconditional love, acceptance, and support. The school counsellor explained interesting and simple things that will help parents maintain their own emotional well-being as part of making parenting more meaningful and joyful.
The session concluded with Q & A round and by summarizing how parents can fill their own bucket with ‘I can’ experiences to build up their parenting muscles! The session was well received by parents.
