- To improve classroom/team atmosphere.
- To encourage gratitude and appreciation.
“Sometimes just a little compliment can make someone’s entire day”
Details of the Activity:
The students sat/ stood in a circle and took turns by picking a chit from the bowl, to give sincere and positive compliments to one another. It fostered a positive atmosphere, built team cohesion and boosted their morale by focusing on the good qualities of each other. The students complimented each other in the following way:
“I really appreciate your positive attitude.”
“You have a lovely handwriting.”
“I appreciate how you always help out.”
“I appreciate your smile.”
“I love your drawing.”
“You are extremely well- mannered”
“You are very soft spoken” etc..
Benefits of the Compliment Circle Activity:
Boosting morale: It created a positive and uplifting environment for the students.
Building connections: It helped the students feel valued and connected to one another.
Promoting empathy: It encouraged the participants to look for and acknowledge the good in others.
Encouraging teamwork: It helped the students to encourage each other.
Developing self-confidence: It helped the students to feel good about themselves by being seen and appreciated by their peers.
The students enjoyed the activity and loved getting and giving compliments. They learnt that it’s easy to overlook the simple things we can do that have a positive impact on our wellbeing and relationships. One amazingly simple but effective thing everyone can do is to “Giving compliments.”
