Vikhe Patil Memorial School, Pune, organised a three-day, two-night overnight camp for Class VIII-B at Young Rangers, School of Exploration, Mulshi, from 9th to 11th October 2026. The camp was led by the class teacher, Mr. Tejas Kulkarni, accompanied by sports teachers Mr. Ravi Sarkar, Ms. Ashwini Shinde and Ms. Yogita Koli.

The camp provided students with opportunities to explore nature, participate in adventure activities, develop teamwork and experience independent living away from home. The programme began with an orientation, campsite tour, tent allotment and a nature walk, followed by a cultural evening featuring group dance performances.

The second day included morning walks, flag hoisting, the school anthem and adventure activities at three stations: an obstacle course conducted by Mr. Ravi Sarkar, wall climbing guided by Ms. Ashwini Shinde and Mr. Rajesh Giri, and a Burma Bridge activity conducted by Ms. Yogita Koli and Mr. Ajay Chetri. Cultural activities, including group singing and skit competitions followed by a musical night organized and conducted by Mr Tejas Kulkarni and Mr. Ravi Sarkar, added enthusiasm and enjoyment to the camp. Indigenous games were successfully organised by Ms. Ashwini Shinde and Ms. Yogita Koli, while morning and evening nature walks were conducted with the support of the campsite trainers.

The final day began with a morning walk, followed by flag lowering, packing, tent cleaning and a closing meeting. The group departed for school and reached the campus at 11:45 a.m. on 11th October.

An important highlight of the camp was the emphasis on self-reliance, cleanliness and responsibility. Students stayed in tents and cleaned their own utensils after meals and snacks. They also participated in cleaning the canteen floor and maintaining their tents. These activities offered valuable lessons in personal responsibility, cooperation, discipline and respect for shared spaces.

The campsite’s canteen facility, managed by Mr. Lazarous Fernandes, provided hygienically prepared meals and refreshments on time, including early-morning milk and bananas, breakfast, lunch, evening snacks and dinner.

The successful completion of the camp was made possible through the collective efforts and cooperation of all the accompanying teachers, campsite trainers and support staff. Overall, the overnight camp was a wonderful, enriching and memorable experience for the students, combining adventure, cultural expression, nature exploration and practical life skills in a safe and supportive environment.
