VPMUN’25: Igniting Global Minds at Vikhe Patil Memorial School, Pune
Vikhe Patil Memorial School, Pune, proudly hosted the sixth edition of the Vikhe Patil Model United Nations (VPMUN’25) on August 2nd and 3rd, 2025. This dynamic two-day conference attracted an enthusiastic gathering of 273 delegates, many of whom were first-time participants, eager to engage in global discourse and parliamentary debate.
The prestigious event was graced by the Chief Guest, Mrs. Tanu Mehta, a seasoned legal professional with extensive experience as an Advocate, Counsel, Mediator, Legal Advisor, Arbitrator, and Conciliator. Distinguished dignitaries, including Dr. Ashok Vikhe Patil, Chairman of Dr. Vikhe Patil Foundation, Mrs. Nandini Vikhe Patil, Joint Secretary, Dr. Vikhe Patil Foundation, Ms. Mrinalini Fernandes, Principal of Vikhe Patil Memorial School, and the Director of the School’s Programme, were also present.
The conference commenced with a vibrant opening ceremony that featured the school song, the traditional lighting of the lamp, and an elegant Odissi (Chao) classical dance performance. Ms. Mrinalini Fernandes inspired the delegates by emphasising the critical role of youth awareness and involvement in addressing pressing global issues. Following her address, the principal formally declared the conference open.
Delegates then took their seats across various committees to debate important global agendas. The committees in session included:

Under the expert guidance of Chairpersons, Vice Chairpersons, Presidents, Vice Presidents, and Co-Moderators, delegates passionately defended their countries’ positions, engaged in spirited debates, and demonstrated exemplary diplomatic skills. The transformation from students to confident delegates was palpable as they shed inhibitions to participate in formal deliberations. Heated discussions and robust arguments brought a vibrant energy to the conference.
On the second day, committees worked collaboratively to draft resolutions, arriving at unanimous decisions that embodied the spirit of cooperation central to the United Nations’ mission. The day culminated with an awards ceremony where Chief Guest Mrs. Tanu Mehta honoured the winners with trophies, cash prizes, and certificates before officially closing the conference.
The event’s atmosphere and decor perfectly complemented the enthusiasm and intellectual rigour displayed by the delegates. Special appreciation goes to Mr. Lazarus Fernandes of Foodsmiths for his exceptional decor and delicious cuisine, traditional fare on the first day and Western delicacies on the second day.
The Organising Committee earned widespread praise for their warmth, hospitality, and flawless management, fostering an inclusive environment that encouraged meaningful debates. Chairs and Vice-Chairs applauded the Secretariat and organising team for executing VPMUN’25 with professionalism and excellence.
VPMUN’25 proved to be an enriching and enlightening experience that broadened the horizons of knowledge for all young participants, while further establishing Vikhe Patil Memorial School’s reputation as a beacon of academic excellence and global awareness under the able leadership of Principal Mrs. Mrinalini Fernandes.
