Name of the Activity: Star Gazing
“Astronomy compels the soul to look upwards and leads us from this world to another”
The stargazing activity took place over the weekend on Saturday, 16th December 2023, and Sunday, 17th December 2023, marking an unforgettable experience for the AstroVPMSians. The students embarked on this celestial journey from the school premises, boarding four buses that transported them to the event venue, where they arrived at 6:30 PM.
Upon reaching the destination, the students were treated to a delightful high tea, setting the tone for an evening filled with astronomical wonders. The adventure kicked off with an engaging session where AstroVPMSians were enlightened about the intricacies of the night sky, learning how to monitor changes and identify constellations. The highlight of the night came when students had the rare opportunity to gaze at the craters of the Moon, witness Saturn adorned with its majestic rings, and marvel at Jupiter accompanied by its moons. Telescopes provided a closer look, turning the night into a captivating exploration of the cosmos.
Following the celestial spectacle, the students indulged in a sumptuous meal, replenishing their energy for the intellectually stimulating activities that lay ahead. The evening continued with a quiz, testing the knowledge acquired during the earlier session on constellations, adding an educational and competitive element to the stargazing adventure.
As the night progressed, the AstroVPMSians retired to their sleeping quarters at 1:00 AM, concluding an eventful and mesmerizing day under the stars. The following Monday, after a hearty breakfast, students bid farewell to the venue, carrying with them not only an enriching experience but also fond memories created with their friends. The return journey saw the buses arriving at the school by 11:00 AM, with students already anticipating the prospect of next year’s celestial activity.
