Objectives of the Activity:
To help students understand key events and influential personalities of India’s freedom movement.
To encourage collaborative learning through creative expression.
To enhance students' research, communication, and presentation skills.
To instil a sense of pride and awareness about India’s historical journey toward independence.
As part of the Monthly Activity for July, students of Class VIII participated in an enriching and patriotic
session titled “Chronicles of Freedom: A Timeline Walk from 1857 to 1947” on Friday, 25th July 2025. This
interactive classroom-based event was designed to take students through India’s historic journey to
independence, highlighting pivotal events and inspiring leaders from the freedom struggle.
The History teacher laid the foundation by introducing students to the timeline of India’s freedom movement during regular classroom sessions.
Students were grouped and assigned specific periods between 1857 and 1947, in line with their academic syllabus.
Each group creatively showcased their assigned phase using self-made posters, charts, illustrations, and informative content.
The visual timelines included key events such as the Revolt of 1857, formation of the Indian National Congress, Jallianwala Bagh Massacre, Non-Cooperation Movement, Dandi March, Quit India Movement, and India’s Independence in 1947.
The classrooms turned into history galleries where groups presented their work, explained the significance of the events, and spoke about prominent freedom fighters of their period.
Learning Outcomes:
The activity successfully fostered collaborative learning, critical thinking, and creativity.
Students developed a deeper understanding and appreciation of India’s freedom struggle.
Their communication and presentation skills were visibly enhanced.
The spirit of patriotism and national pride was evident in each group’s effort and enthusiasm.
This activity was not just a history lesson, but a heartfelt tribute to the legacy of India’s brave freedom fighters.
