Report on Swar Shakti – Kridanjali 2026–27
Krindanjali: A Musical Tribute to the Spirit of Sports
The Upper Primary Section of Vikhe Patil Memorial School, Pune, hosted the fourth edition of its Inter-School Singing Competition, Swar Shakti 2026 on Saturday, 29th August 2026 in the Multipurpose Hall. The theme for Swar Shakti had been Kridanjali. The event brought together nine participating school teams for a vibrant celebration of music, sportsmanship and youthful talent. It was indeed a fitting and opportune occasion to celebrate Kridanjali on National Sports Day, beautifully reinforcing the event’s message of sportsmanship, resilience and the pursuit of excellence
The programme commenced with a warm welcome to the judges, dignitaries, participating schools, and guests followed by the School Anthem. A floral tribute was offered to Padma Shri Dr. Vitthalrao Vikhe Patil, whose memory the Swar Shakti Rolling Trophy honours. The theme of this year’s event, ‘Kridanjali – a tribute to wellness, sportsmanship, resilience, and the unifying power of music,’ beautifully brought together the values of physical fitness, mental well-being and artistic expression.
The opening ceremony featured an energetic ‘Champions in Motion’ dance performance, which set the tone for the day’s theme by celebrating passion, determination, perseverance and the spirit of never giving up. The programme then proceeded with the felicitation of the esteemed judges.
The competition then commenced with performances by nine participating teams – Sonora, Harmonix, Resonance, Crescendo, Symphonia, Rhythmia, Maestros, Serenades and Euphony. Each team presented a carefully selected musical piece reflecting different facets of sports and life, including unity, courage, determination, teamwork, patriotism, friendship, discipline and sportsmanship. The performances showcased the students’ vocal abilities, creativity, confidence and dedication.
The performances were evaluated by the esteemed judges, Mrs. Swapnaja Lele, an accomplished Marathi and Hindi playback singer and live performer, and Mrs. Abhaya Deshpande, a distinguished music educator and Sangeet Visharad in Hindustani Classical Vocal Music. The judges expressed their appreciation for the impressive performances presented by the participating teams. They commended the students for their dedication, confidence, musical expression and overall presentation. Their encouraging words and constructive feedback served as a source of motivation for the young participants and added significance to the celebration. Their expertise and experience added immense value to the competition.
Following the competitive performances, the audience witnessed an innovative instrumental presentation by the school’s in-house band, ‘The Bucket Beats’. Using discarded buckets as musical instruments, the performance beautifully conveyed the message of sustainability and demonstrated how creativity can transform ordinary objects into extraordinary musical experiences.
The event then moved towards its concluding segment with an address by the eminent judges, followed by the Prize Distribution Ceremony. The achievements of the participating teams were recognised through the following titles: The Orbis School, Mundhwa, was declared the Second Runner-Up; Indira National School emerged as the First Runner-Up; and the coveted Swar Shakti Rolling Trophy 2026 was awarded to Pawar Public School.
The programme concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to the judges, dignitaries, teachers, participating schools and all those who worked behind the scenes to make the event a success. The closing message reiterated the essence of Kridanjali—to nurture healthy bodies, peaceful minds and compassionate hearts through the power of sports and music. The gathering concluded with the National Anthem.
Swar Shakti – Kridanjali 2026-27 was a memorable celebration of music, talent and sportsmanship. More than a competition, it provided young learners with a platform to express themselves, appreciate one another’s talents and understand the powerful connection between music, wellness and the spirit of sport.
