Report on Workshop on Implementation of NEP 2020 at Muktangan Exploratory

A one-day workshop on the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 was successfully organized at the Muktangan Exploratory Center, Pune, on 28th June 2025.It was attended by Ms Shirish Sant and Ms Nidhi Jain. The event brought together enthusiastic educators and
school leaders, including principals and teachers from various schools, to deepen their understanding of the transformative goals and vision of NEP 2020.

The workshop began with a warm welcome and an insightful keynote address by Mr. Govind Kulkarni, an expert from SCERT, who highlighted the foundational pillars of NEP 2020 such as experiential learning, competency-based education, foundational literacy and numeracy, and the integration of local context in curriculum delivery. He emphasized the paradigm shift from rote learning to conceptual understanding and the importance of teacher training in this transition.

This was followed by a highly engaging session by Mr. Vivek Sawant, a respected mentor from MKCL (Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited). He focused on the role of digital tools, blended learning, and the use of technology in the classroom to align with NEP’s objectives. His session inspired teachers to explore innovative approaches to teaching and assessment using digital platforms.

The workshop also included a guided tour of the Muktangan Exploratory Laboratories, where participants got a hands-on experience with interactive science exhibits, low-cost teaching aids, and practical demonstrations that support experiential learning—a key component of
NEP 2020. The visit was not only informative but also motivating, as it showcased how scientific curiosity can be nurtured among students through inquiry-based methods. The workshop concluded with a feedback and reflection session, where participants shared their takeaways and expressed a renewed commitment to implementing the NEP framework in their own institutions. The event proved to be a meaningful step toward reimagining education and building a more holistic, inclusive, and forward-looking learning ecosystem.
