Field Trip to Symbiosis Society’s Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar Museum & Memorial
Symbiosis Society’s Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar Museum & Memorial, S B Road Pune
Field trips are educational, learning based, and is always an enriching experience for students as it opens doors to new understanding and new learning. Visits to museums in particular, help students observe, learn and understand about a particular persons, places, period when
events have occurred and also fills their mind with joy and enthusiasm. The visit to Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar Museum & Memorial, was one such.
The objective of the visit was to make students aware of the huge contributions of Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar, who was a multi-faceted personality, the architect of India’s constitution, a great social reformer, a humanist, champion of the downtrodden and proponent of national unity. He was a leader of the poor, a powerful orator, a constitutionalist par excellence, a jurist, a renowned author and the exponent of “DHAMMA CHAKRA”.
The museum is located on Senapati Bapat Road, very close to our school premises and therefore it was convenient for students to reach the museum. Dr. Maisaheb Ambedkar wife of Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar has generously donated to the museum many of his personal
belongings, his memorabilia including the urn containing his sacred ashes, the coveted Bharat-Ratna award together with the citation.
Students were taken by surprise to see the hologram of Dr. Ambedkar’s Speech in the constituent Assembly on 17 th December 1946, which is the latest addition in the museum. They were then allowed to explore the museum and understand the most vital incidents of Dr
Ambedkar’s life like the Poona Pact, Dr Ambedkar taking oath as the first Law Minister, Dr Ambedkar embracing Buddhism etc., that were depicted in the form of lifelike sculptures. This was followed by a documentary of his life and a glance through the relics preserved in
the museum within.
We would like to mention our sincere gratitude to the school management and to our Principal Mrinalini Ma’am for providing us with this lovely opportunity where students could connect to incidents which until this visit was just textual and thus enhance their love for such
visits.
