Report on Teacher development workshop on Hands on Minds-on: Effective teaching and learning Science

On Monday, 27 th February 2023, Ms Leena Jhingon and Ms Nidhi Jain attended capacity- building workshop organised by iRISE team members in collaboration with DurhamUniversity at IISER Pune. The workshop was conducted by Prof Catherine Montgomery
(School of Education) / Deputy Executive Dean, Global (Faculty of Health and Social Sciences) and Prof Cath erine Reading (Professor, Director of Professional Programmes).
The workshop focussed on the following pointers:
Building dialogue in science: the art of questioning.
Transformative learning through practical work.
Scholarship research activities and publications
Building Professional learning networks
The session included hands on activities such as designing question matrix, toast butter activity to understand variables, measurements, probability in scientific process. Prof Cathrine Montgomery helped the participants to explore more about publication of research work that teachers do in their classrooms. This continuous professional development workshop helped us to stay updated about the curriculum changes, innovative methods and the research work by the educators in different countries. The workshop concluded with distribution of the certificates. We express our gratitude towards our beloved Principal Mrinalini ma’am and the school management for this wonderful opportunity.
