School Art Competition

“Where devotion meets creativity, every stroke becomes a prayer, and every colour tells a story.”
Under the Pune Pratham -Seva Waari initiative, the “ KalaaWaari” School Drawing Competition was organized by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) . Students were invited to celebrate the spirit of the sacred Vitthal Waari through art.
The objective of this competition was to acquaint students with the rich cultural heritage and spiritual significance of the Warkari tradition, while helping them understand it’s teachings, values and philosophy.
Through their artworks, students explored the essence of devotion, unity, humility, compassion, and selfless service- the timeless ideals that the Warkari movement has upheld for generations.
The competition was open to students from std. V to std. X and was conducted in two categories for the first round.
Group 1- std. V to std. VII
Group 2- std. VIII to std. X
An overwhelming 550 students across the sections participated in the competition, expressing their creativity through vibrant and meaningful artworks. Their drawings beautifully portrayed scenes from the Waari procession, Devotees carrying palkhis, traditional attire, musical instruments, temples, and the enduring values of faith, devotion, unity and togetherness.
To encourage every young artist, all the participants were awarded digital certificates of participation. In each category, three winners and two consolation prize winners were selected for their exceptional creativity, artistic expression, and understanding of the theme.
Following are the results of the 1st round of the competition-
Group 1- 1st prize- Atharv Yannawar – VII D
-2nd prize- Vikhyat Nair- VI C
-3rd prize- Urvi Sangam – VI D .
Consolation prizes – Vihaan Mutha(VII A) and Ananya Jadhav(VII B)
Group 2- 1st prize- Renuka Patil – X C
-2nd prize- Vanshika Khetan- VIII B .
-3rd prize- Swaraj Pawar – VIII A .
Consolation prizes – Anthea John(X D) and Malhar Chavan(VIII D )
This competition provided the students a meaningful platform to showcase their artistic talent while fostering a deeper appreciation for Maharashtra’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage.
The competition inspired young minds to celebrate and preserve the values of the Warkari tradition through the universal language of art.
