The students of Std. 8 to 10 embarked on a captivating culinary journey during a specially curated cooking activity held on Saturday, 28 th June 2025 under the expert guidance of our esteemed resource person, Mr. Lazarus Fernandes and his chef Mr. Surinder Mukan. The young
chefs discovered the joy of creating, tasting, and sharing food that nourishes both body and soul. The objective of the activity was not merely to teach recipes but to inspire students to discover the art and science behind cooking.

The activity began with a delightful visual journey as the children were gently guided through a video on table etiquettes. The students transformed into budding chefs, eager to explore the culinary world. The aroma of fresh ingredients filled the air as students prepared two innovative and delightful recipes — Corn Capsicum Cheese Pizza and Sesame Tossed Honey Noodles with Ice cream.

Activity Details:

1. Corn Capsicum Cheese Pizza
The first dish, was a wonderful way to introduce students to the joys of savoury baking. The Corn Capsicum Cheese Pizza, with its medley of golden corn, crunchy bell peppers, onions, olives and molten cheese atop a crisp pizza base, proved to be a visual and gastronomic treat. Guided step-by-step by our esteemed resource person, students learned the art of layering flavours, balancing ingredients, and baking with care and creativity. The students finely chopped the onions and capsicums into thin even slices with utmost care. The veggies and sweet corn were gently tossed in oil and herbs like oregano and chilli flakes were added to it. The students learned how even a small dash of seasoning can elevate a dish. The tangy tomato pizza sauce was spread on a ready pizza base followed by a sprinkle of tossed veggies and olives. A generous layer of grated mozzarella cheese followed, bringing richness and texture to the creation. The pizzas baked to golden perfection, emerged hot and bubbling.

2. Sesame-Tossed Honey Noodles with Ice cream

Following this, was a unique twist – the preparation of Sesame-Tossed Honey Noodles, a dessert with an irresistible crunch and golden glaze. These ethereal spirals of crunch were lovingly drizzled with golden honey. The students marvelled at how simple ingredients could transform into something truly magical. The final sprinkle of sesame seeds gave the dish a gourmet finish and was elegantly served alongside a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Beyond the culinary techniques and kitchen skills, this session stirred a deeper appreciation for the joy of cooking. The 30 young chefs not only gained practical knowledge of food preparation and hygiene but also experienced the essence of
collaboration, time management, and presentation. It was heart-warming to witness them working in harmony, helping one another, and taking pride in their creations.
