Report on Educational Visit to FLAME University, Lavale
The first activity of the Chilli Wonka’s Flavour Factory Club was successfully conducted as an educational visit to FLAME University, Lavale, on Saturday, 11th April 2026.
All 35 participating students reported to school at 7:40 a.m. and assembled in Class IX C, accompanied by 8 teachers. The group departed from the school premises at 8:30 a.m. in an organized manner and reached the picturesque university campus at approximately 9:45 a.m.
The primary objective of the visit was to provide students with an enriching learning experience beyond the classroom. Upon arrival, students were divided into three groups, each guided through a short campus tour. During the tour, students visited the university’s enormous library, which offered a glimpse into extensive academic resources. They also explored the academic building named after A. P. J. Abdul Kalam and the sports ground named Arjuna, both of which reflect the institution’s emphasis on holistic development.
Following the campus tour, students and teachers proceeded to the canteen area, Rasoi, where breakfast and tea were thoughtfully arranged by the university. This gesture was appreciated by all.
A key highlight of the visit was the exposure to the university’s kitchen facilities. Students were taken through various departments of the kitchen, where they received detailed information about food preparation and hygiene practices. They learned about the use of color-coded chopping boards and knives to prevent cross-contamination, the importance of maintaining hygiene standards, and the role of freezers and cold storage in food preservation. Students also observed large cooking utensils, baking equipment, and ovens used for bulk preparation.
The group then visited the live kitchen, where cooking was actively taking place. Students witnessed how large-scale cooking is efficiently managed while maintaining strict hygiene standards. It was particularly interesting for them to see that items such as bread, cakes, and cookies were freshly prepared on-site. Additionally, they observed the washing area and storage rooms, gaining a comprehensive understanding of kitchen operations.
The trip was well-coordinated, and students displayed commendable discipline and enthusiasm throughout the visit. The group returned safely to school at 1:00 p.m.
Overall, the educational visit was informative, engaging, and a great beginning to the club’s activities. It left students inspired, more aware of real-world applications of their learning, and motivated to explore further.
