This activity aimed to enhance their culinary knowledge and empower them to experiment and innovate while cooking.
Before commencing the cooking activity, the students were shown videos on food facts about healthy eating and different types of sandwich making. They were explained the importance of wearing an apron and a cap while cooking.
The students cleaned the coriander and mint leaves and washed them with other vegetables such as carrots, tomatoes, and cucumbers to ensure proper hygiene and food safety. The budding chefs prepared hearty Chatpata sandwiches layered with flavourful fillings and tempting coconut laddoos.
Sandwich making is an important life skill and once mastered, the children will enjoy making their lunch and snacks.
For the sandwiches, the students spread the sweet and tangy tamarind chutney and coriander mint chutney on the brown bread slices. The wholemeal sandwiches were stacked with nutritious veggies such as thinly sliced carrots, cucumber, tomatoes, onions, and a pinch of rock salt. They were later garnished with sev and roasted peanuts.
The toothsome Coconut Laddoos were a perfect blend of desiccated coconut, milk powder, and condensed milk.
The students thoroughly enjoyed the activity and relished their sandwiches and laddoos.
