‘National Sports Day’
“It is not my country’s duty to push me ahead. It is my duty to push my country ahead. -by Major Dhyan Chand
We at VPMS, celebrated the birth anniversary of the hockey legend, Major Dhyan Chand on 29th August, to commemorate his birth anniversary. Major Dhyan Chand is famously known as the ‘The Hockey Wizard.’ and one of the finest athletes that India has produced.
It started with a special assembly to instill a sense of respect towards sports in the minds of young children as well as to develop team spirit, leadership, and sportsmanship qualities. Students of class VII-C wholeheartedly presented a wonderful insight into Major Dhyan
Chand’s life through a speech: the budding poetess, Anushka. S. and Ira .k presented an uplifting poem on sports. The stimulating part of the assembly was our athletes of the Olympics in various games. It made all of us aware that we have talented players like Sushil Kumar,
Neeraj Chopra, Manu Bhaker, etc. Each student portrayed the character competently. The calm and serene atmosphere reverberated the joy of assembly.
