Report of Field Visit to SOFOSH- TARA
Class VIII
“Its not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.”― Mother Teresa
A group of 112 students from Std VIII and 4 teachers from Vikhe Patil Memorial School, Pune , got the opportunity to visit TARA, SOFOSH Dhadphale Centre, a home for mentally and physically challenged family-deprived children, on December 19th, 2024, during school hours.
The students had a chance to meet and interact with family-deprived specially-abled children. Initially, they were briefed about the organization and the children housed there, with the objective of sensitizing students and raising their awareness of vulnerable people.
The students were divided into groups and taken around to observe the various activities conducted in the classrooms, the physiotherapy unit, and the dormitories, where they met and interacted with the inmates. They were also shown areas like the activity room, medical
rooms, and hygienically maintained kitchen and dining areas.
The interaction between children from SOFOSH and the students at VPMS was conducted through many activities, such as dance, classical songs, and poem recitation. The students also expressed themselves by sharing their reflections and thoughts on their interactions with
the children from SOFOSH.
VPMS students contributed large quantities of grocery items and toiletries as a gesture of their thoughtfulness and generosity.
Overwhelmed by the opportunity and the interactions, the students expressed their sincere gratitude towards the school, and SOFOSH established TARA.
This field trip was truly an eye-opener for all. It also instilled an understanding of the challenges prevalent in our society and how grateful they should be for every little blessing.
