“Everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you are climbing it”- Andy Rooney
Purandar Fort is a mountain fort in Pune district in Western Indian state of Maharashtra, India. The fort stands at 1,374 metres (4,508 ft) above the sea level in the Western Ghats, 50 kilometres (31 mi) to the southeast of Pune. To explore this adventurous fort the Teachers of T3 club arranged their Third trek on Saturday, 31 st August 2024. The students and teachers started their journey at 6:30 am by school bus towards the base of Purandar fort. The students had stalled for a while, enjoying the scenery along with the refreshments that were provided. With great excitement we all started climbing the fort. Being monsoon, on the right side of the ridge, we could see small waterfalls, Though the climb was moderately challenging ,was manageable with proper guidance and support. Fort itself is a sight to behold. Purandar fort is steeped in history, as it was significant stronghold during the Maratha Empire. The fort offers a panoramic view of the Sahyadri mountains, the sight of rolling hills, the spread of greenery, and the cool breeze make it refreshing experience. The architecture including the old bastions and gateway, gives you a glimpse into the past, and Students learnt about the historical significance of the fort. As the fort was inside Army base so photography and videography was strictly prohibited.
At once, when we finished exploring the fort, Students saw the museum with shows the History of Purandar fort. Students and Teachers had their lunch at Purandar Pride. They enjoyed their food with an amazing fort view. Overall, A trek to Purandar fort for children is a memorable experience, combining physical activity with the exploration of nature and history.
