The Mushroom Cultivation Skill Education journey of Std. VIII Group 1 has been an enriching blend of experiential learning, creativity, entrepreneurship and sustainability. Students began by exploring the life cycle of mushrooms, creating charts and presentations that strengthened their understanding of fungal growth. Their nature walk at Bhamburda Forest encouraged mushroom observation, identification and appreciation of biodiversity. Through a Mushroom Business Role Play and Brand Builders logo and team patch challenge, students explored entrepreneurship, communication, branding and teamwork. The hands-on cultivation workshop introduced them to straw sterilisation, spawning and preparation of mushroom bags, while highlighting nutritional, medicinal and entrepreneurial opportunities. The visit to Eco Valley Farms provided first-hand exposure to composting, spawning, incubation, casing, harvesting, grading, packaging and cold storage. Students further explored mushrooms through fireless cooking, followed by flowcharts, discussions, notebook work and reflections. Collectively, these activities nurtured curiosity, creativity, collaboration, vocational skills and sustainable thinking, connecting classroom learning with real-world applications.
