This activity aimed to integrate life skills with academic learning, encouraging students to take responsibility for their family’s health. The activity began with an informative orientation through a PowerPoint presentation, where students were introduced to the concept of a Family Health Handbook. The session highlighted:
- The importance of maintaining health records
- Awareness about nutrition, hygiene, and lifestyle habits
- Understanding common health indicators such as diet, exercise, sleep, and medical history
- The role of students as “Health Ambassadors” within their families
Objective of the Activity
- To help students understand the health status of their family members
- To develop a sense of responsibility and care towards family well-being
- To encourage observation, documentation, and analytical skills
- To promote awareness about preventive healthcare and healthy lifestyles
Activity Overview:
Students were guided to create their Family Health Handbook, which included an activity on “Factors Impacting Health and Well-being” structured into three parts. The first checklist focused on students’ self-assessment of hygiene, environment, sleep patterns, and nutrition, promoting self-awareness. The second checklist involved parents, encouraging students to understand adult health habits, while the third focused on senior citizens, helping them recognize the needs and care of the elderly.
As part of the portfolio, students also designed creative cover pages using illustrations, health symbols, and meaningful slogans like ‘Healthy Family, Happy Life’. They were further oriented about the upcoming activity of ‘First Aid Box’ and the required preparation.
Overall, the activity was engaging and insightful, fostering awareness, empathy, and responsibility. It enabled students to act as Health Ambassadors, promoting healthier lifestyles within their families while developing essential life skills beyond the classroom.
