As part of the Kaushal Bodh – Skill Education Programme, students participated in Project 3: Work in Human Service (Family Health Handbook). The activities aimed to create awareness about basic healthcare practices and the importance of first aid in everyday life.
Activity 1: Making a First Aid Box
Students were guided on the essential items required in a first aid box and their uses. They enthusiastically prepared their own first aid boxes using the available materials. The activity helped them understand the importance of being prepared for minor injuries and emergencies at home, school, and in the community. Students then prepared their own first aid boxes, demonstrating creativity and understanding of the purpose of each item.
Activity 2: Interactive Session by the School Nurse
An informative and interactive session was conducted by our school nurse, Ms. Susan, on the topic “First Aid Box and Its Importance.” She explained the purpose of various first aid materials such as bandages, antiseptic solutions, cotton, gauze, adhesive tape, and scissors. Through real-life examples and demonstrations, she highlighted the correct use of these items and shared basic first-aid measures for common injuries.
Students actively participated in the discussion, asked thoughtful questions, and gained valuable knowledge about responding to emergencies safely and responsibly.
The session concluded with a relaxing self-hypnosis and meditation activity. The students were guided through simple breathing and mindfulness exercises that helped them calm their minds and reflect on the day’s learning. The session emphasized the importance of mental well-being alongside physical health, leaving the students feeling refreshed, focused, and relaxed.
Conclusion
The activities were highly engaging and educational. They enhanced students’ practical life skills, encouraged responsible health practices, and fostered an understanding of the role of first aid in ensuring safety and well-being.
