As a part of the ‘Skill Education’ initiative, the Nature Nurturers Club – Plant Nursery journey of Std. VII Group 1 has been an enriching blend of experiential learning, environmental awareness, practical skills and appreciation for nature.
Students began with a Green Tour of the VPMS campus and the ‘My Dream Nursery’ activity, exploring nursery structure, germination, soil culture, plant care and propagation. An insightful expert lecture by Ms. Preetam Tulsibagwale, Co-founder of Biocycle Garden Solution, introduced students to nursery management, seed conservation, types of seeds and propagation methods, followed by hands-on sowing and planting activities.
The visit to Sanjay Nursery, Loni Kalbhor, provided first-hand exposure to a working nursery and diverse plant varieties, tools, manures, etc. Students further strengthened their learning through practical activities, observation, portfolios, files and scrapbooks. Regular weekly classes coupled with hands-on sessions with the plants enriched their learning.
The final viva and portfolio-based evaluation enabled students to reflect upon their learning journey. Collectively, these activities nurtured curiosity, responsibility, teamwork, scientific thinking and environmental consciousness, fostering a meaningful connection between students and nature.
