“Knot your Ordinary Art!”
As a part of Kaushal Bodh, Class VII students enthusiastically participated in a Tie-and-Dye activity. They were introduced to traditional art forms such as Bandhani, Leheriya, and Shibori through videos, demonstrations, and hands-on activities.
Students first experimented with tie-and-dye techniques on handkerchiefs using twine and rubber bands. They then created unique patterns on cushion covers and tote bags using jute rope, grains, and pebbles. Students also explored Shibori, Bandhani, and running stitch techniques. The dyed fabrics were treated with a fixer
to retain the colours.
For the final activity, students designed white T-shirts using folding, twisting, scrunching, tying, and fork techniques, creating vibrant and personalized patterns. They also decorated folders using pieces of their dyed fabric.
The project fostered creativity, patience, precision, hand-eye coordination, experimentation, and appreciation for traditional crafts, making the experience enjoyable, engaging, and enriching for all students.
